Fostoria was once a bustling mining community to the west of Pelican Town. This new location can be accessed by walking west through the bus tunnel in the base game OR (new in v5.5+) by enabling a shortcut entrance using the config.json file.
Fostoria is home to three new NPCs, two shops, new areas to forage, and much more to discover. Fostoria is a stand-alone mod, but it can be combined with other LLT3 mods. We especially recommend using Fostoria with Stoffton because Fostoria allows you to walk to Stoffton without having to repair the bus. Also, using Stoffton will bring new features to the Fostoria map and allow you to walk to a new farm that you can purchase through the grocery store in Stoffton.
Fostoria can be found on Nexus Mods here.
Maps
Fostoria ships with three maps. All of the maps are the same width, but they are different heights. The Small Map is 2/3 the height of the Big map. The Tiny map is only 1/3 the height of the Big map. When you first download the mod, it is set to use the original or "Big" map. To use a different map, you need to change the config.json file included in the mod folder. See the directions in the Configurations section below.
Map Features
The table below includes a screen capture of all three maps. In addition, the maps have the following features:
- All maps include all of the Fostoria NPCs, buildings, and quests.
- All maps allow you to walk to the Desert by following the paved road along the bottom of the map and partway up the left side of the map. (To leave the Desert, you can walk back through Fostoria or take the bus home (even if the bus is not yet repaired).
- On all of the maps, your character enters from the lower right side of the map.
Map Name | Image | Best For |
---|---|---|
Big | The big Fostoria map is best for players who want a large amount of area to plant additional trees, etc. | |
Small(default size) | The small Fostoria map is a balance between extra space for exploration and a shorter path to the buildings of Fostoria. If you do not change the config.json file, the small map will be loaded for your game. | |
Tiny | The tiny Fostoria map is designed to provide you with the fastest path to the buildings of Fostoria. |
When Combined with Stoffton
If you use Fostoria with Stoffton, the Fostoria maps gain additional features as described on this page: Fostoria & Stoffton.
Locations
Fostoria has four main locations, no matter the map size.
Note: If you are using Fostoria with Stoffton, Remmington will leave Fostoria on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to sell his fish in the Stoffton Fish Shop. (He will continue to live in Fostoria.)
Villagers
Fostoria includes three new characters.
Configurations
The config.json file is created the first time you run Stardew Valley with the Fostoria mod installed. To make changes:
- Install Fostoria (and any other required mods).
- Launch Stardew Valley.
- At the main screen, quit Stardew before you load or create a farm.
- Open the Fostoria mod folder.
- Open the "[CP] Fostoria" folder.
- Edit the config.json file.
Setting | Description | Options |
---|---|---|
ExcludeNPCsWinterStar | As written, Fostoria NPCs (new villagers) are not included in the Winter Star festival in the base game. However, if you want Fostoria NPCs to be part of the Winter Star festival, you must change this to "false". | true = (default) New villagers will not be selected as a gift giver or receiver during the Winter Star festival.
false = New villagers MAY be selected as a gift giver or receiver. |
FostoriaSize | Fostoria includes three maps. The mod is initially set to use the largest map; however, depending on your gameplay style, you may want to choose a different map to use. | Big = uses the largest map.
Small = (default) uses the medium sized map. Tiny = uses the smallest map. |
FostoriaShortcut | You can always reach Fostoria by walking through the bus tunnel, but if this path is used by other mods, you can choose to add the "Fostoria Shortcut" to your game. | true = Adds a second tunnel to the base game in the Backwoods area just north of your farm. You can reach Fostoria a bit more quickly through this tunnel.
false = (default) No change. |
Fostoria Shortcut
If you enable the Fostoria Shortcut, you will see a new tunnel entrance in the Backwoods. When you walk (or ride your horse) through that tunnel, you will arrive in Fostoria just north of the bus tunnel exit.
